The Healthcare Technology Management
Association of the Midwest
The place for BMETs & HTM professionals in the Midwest & Beyond.
The regular HTMA-MW meeting presentation is by the Medical Missions Foundation, presenters include, Megan Jackson, OR Educator at Children's Mercy Hospital. Additional presentations by Noe Aguilar (HTMA-MW supported volunteer), Imaging Engineer at KU Hospital and Kevin Hashman, multiple Missions trip volunteer and Director of Biomedical Engineering, KU Hospital.
Come learn about their rewarding and life altering experiences as Medical Missions volunteers and how you can be a part of something so incredibly humbling and rewarding. As Dr. John Alley says, "Access to adequate medical care or a life-changing surgical procedure not only brings health, it brings hope."
Mahatma Gandi said, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."
"When receiving the most genuine and gracious thank yous from people that will never know your name, but will always remember what you did for them, that is humbling. Being able to provide a "service to others" without the expectation of receiving anything back, that is when real service has been done." Noe Aguilar
The need for Biomedical Engineering on these trips is so great, from setting up the Clinic, the PACU and an OR, to greeting and assisting the People that are truly grateful for what you are doing for them. All of us got into this field due to our inherent nature to want to serve and we love the nature of a challenge. Being an integral part of a Team that has minimal resources but at the end of the day has conquered those challenges, may well be the best experience of your life!
The meeting will be at KU's Westwood Campus, please RSVP so we can plan for food. There is free parking in levels 3, 4 & 5 of the attached garage after 5:00 pm. The meeting will be held in the multi-purpose Room 2330.
